Karen's Egg Bread

2 pkg. of yeast
1 teaspoon sugar
½ cup warm water
3 tablespoons oil
2/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon salt
3 eggs

Add yeast mixture to above
add 3 cups water.
Add 8-10 cups flour.
Knead, let rise twice,
roll out into four loaves,
let rise. Brush with egg white,
sprinkle with sesame seeds.

Bake 30 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit
or until golden

Mama’s Monkey Bread*

Scald 1 quart milk; add ¼ cup sugar,
4 teaspoons salt and 2 tablespoons shortening
Cool mixture to lukewarm;
add 1 pkg. yeast which has been softened in ¼ cup water.
Sift 12 cups flour and
use as much as needed to
make dough stiff enough to handle.
Add flour gradually – knead until smooth and satiny

Shape into 4 loaves,
brush with melted butter, let rise.
Melt ¾ lb. of BUTTER.
Cut loaves into thick slices.
Dip into butter.
Place in pan and let rise again.

Bake in hot oven 400-425 degrees Fahrenheit
Until golden and crusty, about 40 minuets.
